All I want for Christmas is...

As the festive period draws ever closer, some of our lovely animal family have been having a think about what they would love for Christmas this year…

Amigo would love a set of golden horseshoes that he could show off as he trotted around our agility course. Amigo says, “I would also be able to open all the locks and doors so I could follow you around all day!”

Frankie would definitely choose a set of stilts so he can reach and cuddle his best friend, Tsar.

All Gus would like for Christmas is a healthy serving of his favourite snack, Readymash Extra, and a soundproof napping pod so he can sleep undisturbed!

Taking the ‘protector of the Reanimate clan’ role very seriously, Henry would probably choose his very own CCTV system to monitor for intruders and keep us all safe.

Megan loves nothing more than to play, play, play! She would definitely choose her very own play robot that could match her unlimited energy all day long!

Although she loves to flirt with all the boys, Twiggy also likes time alone and so would love her own little field to relax in and enjoy!

…and of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without all of the delicious food and many of our Reanimate clan would love nothing more than a healthy helping of their favourite snacks. Loki would love anything dairy, Kodi would definitely choose Webbox chicken, and Chester would opt for all of the mealworms he could get!

However you spend the festive period this year, we all wish you a very happy and healthy Christmas!

I came under the ownership of Katie’s Cradle 1 year ago under the external rehoming program. I am a little bit of a worry wort and I stress quite easily and because of this I scare some people. I have been lucky, I didn’t know what it meant being under the ‘protection’ of the charity but recently I found out what that meant. When my adopter could no longer keep me, (I got too stressed and in my panic kicked someone) I went directly under the care of Katie’s Cradle, this means I had been tried in a new home and when it didn’t work out, I go to Katie’s Cradle forever. This means that I won’t get passed from pillar to post, that would only make my stresses worse.

The sun rises on another day, another day that would be just the same, another day where no-one cared, or so I thought………..

This is a subject that appears to be quite in focus at the minute, with many differing opinions as to the best way for humans to interact with horses. Horses are very large animals and the size of them alone can cause fear in humans which can result in the human feeling the need to be dominant. As we know, anger quite often covers feelings of fear and as horsemen/women if we don’t understand these emotions then our approach to our horsemanship can very easily have an adverse effect.

Have you ever been in a situation where you feel your choices have been taken from you? Where your opinion is cast aside when it affects you? How did that make you feel?

We have all heard the stories of bottle-fed horses, of how dangerous and uncontrollable they can be, to the extent that they can do someone serious damage. I challenge this……….
